5. Debra/Sable Evening Gown "Match" Leads To Debra As Champ Even Though She Lost
Sable was WWE's most popular and well known diva during the Attitude Era. She ended up turning heel in 1999 because she was developing a big ego while also posing in Playboy magazine. It was a gimmick that really worked for her. On the May 10th 1999 edition of Raw, commissioner Shawn Michaels made Sable defend her Women's Title against another popular diva, Debra in an Evening Gown Match. Debra wasn't a wrestler, so instead of having an actual match all they really did was have Sable rip off Debra's gown while Val Venis walked down to ringside to check out the match due to his storyline with Debra. Since Sable ripped of Debra's gown, she should have been the winner. Instead, Michaels made a ruling after the match saying that with him as a commissioner it's the woman that loses her gown that is the winner. The fans cheered that even though it totally went against the concept of the match. This was one of those scenarios where you shouldn't take it seriously. WWE just had to get the title off Sable, who made her last appearance due to her disputes with the company leading to a lawsuit. She returned four years later, but this was a joke of a match. At least they were hot. In the Attitude Era, that's all that mattered.
