10 WWE Nightmares That Could Come True In 2023

5. SmackDown Goes 3 Hours

Don't rule this out.

Wrestling fans (this writer included) have moaned endlessly about returning Raw to a two-hour format, but the truth is that WWE makes a ton of money from that extra 60 minutes of airtime every Monday. The USA Network pays a premium for it, and more time means more ad space to sell.

What if FOX looks at what's happening earlier in the week and decrees that SmackDown should follow the same trend? Suddenly, one of the easiest weeklies to watch on the schedule would turn into another draining night of WWE product that overstays its welcome every single week.

Money talks though, and it's silly to imagine any business would knock back the chance to make more dosh. Of course, WWE would be creatively stretching themselves yet again by pushing the Raw/SmackDown twin punch to six gruelling hours of content between Monday and Friday nights.

Hopefully, this won't happen in 2023, because SmackDown is fine as it is.
