10 WWE Payback 2020 Impulse Reactions

1. Roman Reigns Becomes Universal Champion

Roman Reigns arrived late to only the do the necessary in something that looked more like a Money In The Bank cash-in than an actual match. In another wrestling company, this would set a dangerous precedent - can wrestlers now just show up whenever they want?

Luckily, this is WWE, and no other heel will think of this again until it suits the story.

Working exclusively in a broken ring after Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman went through it with a superplex (at least they had the audio file from the game to match the visual...), it was heavy weather instead of smooth sailing for the recent returnee.

The Fiend regained some of that random invincibility for a bit, and his kickouts gave Strowman time to rest and then do the same. A mandible claw gave 'The Big Dog' some bother until, hilariously, it was a kick to the knackers but Bray back on his a*se. It was all steel chairs and Spears from there.

The show closed with Reigns holding the belt aloft, exactly as he would have at WrestleMania if the world hadn't gone mad. Though, this closing shot hardly spoke to things being normal - Payback, somehow, was good.
