10 WWE Premonitions That Came True

5. Steve Austin Will Do “Anything” For The Title

WWE's build towards WrestleMania X-Seven remains one of the best ever.

The way they weaved pop culture phenomenons like Limp Bizkit's 'My Way' into those sumptuous hype packages, and the blockbuster nature of that Rock vs. Steve Austin main event - everything was perfect, but there was another story burning in the background. It was almost hiding in plain sight.

During a hard-hitting sit down interview hosted by Jim Ross, Austin looked Rocky in the eye and told him that he'd do "anything" to become champion again. Come crunch time in Houston, 'Stone Cold' unthinkably sided with Vince McMahon, turned heel in the process and captured his fifth World Title.

If fans are being honest with themselves, nobody saw that coming. Austin had caught fire again as an anti-hero babyface, won the 2001 Royal Rumble and seemed destined to win the belt as a good guy. Nope. He'd already alerted everyone to what depths he'd stoop to in order to win back his prize.
