There are a number of options since the midcard is full of babyface wrestlers that could compete for the IC Title, but it's really hard to forecast this sort of thing. In the past two months we've seen three IC Title changes. WWE can talk all they want about the title being special, but when it changes hands that easily it makes it look less coveted. A guy like Ambrose shouldn't be going for the IC Title. He's been US Champion and that didn't go well. Adrian Neville would be a great choice although we all know that it's hard to predict when NXT talents get called up. Some possible opponents could be Ryback or perhaps Jack Swagger because it was Swagger that actually hurt Barrett by tossing him into the barricade at ringside, which caused his shoulder injury. It was weird to see Barrett losing clean to Sin Cara in a non-title match at Smackdown. That's probably going to lead to Barrett beating him, but why have him lose to him in the first place? Weird booking.
