From @MJDP_GSE: I like Kofi, Big E & Xavier but the New Day gimmick seems like a prime example of Vince & creative being out of touch. Thoughts?
The New Day trio of Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods debuted on Smackdown, so we finally have an idea about what WWE has been planning for them for the past four months. When Xavier initially did the promo with the other two it seemed like they were going to be a heel trio. Instead, they're going to be faces. Their entrance on Smackdown featured a lot of crowd interaction. The fans really didn't make a lot of noise for them, but WWE inserted some piped in cheers because that's what they do sometimes. They hit some nice tag team moves in the match, so that's encouraging. It's a good thing that these guys are together just because they're all talented wrestlers that need to be featured on television more. Whether they get pushed as a tag team (perhaps they can rotate who is in the matches) or they get singles pushes as a group that is always together, they are valuable performers. People can overreact or overanalyze it all they want, but we should just focus on the simple fact that three good wrestlers are together and we should hope for the best. It wouldn't be a bad idea to push them for the Tag Team Titles quickly. That division could use a boost. This trio would help it a lot right away.
