10 WWE Questions You Most Want Answered (July 7th)
1. Who Would Be On A Female Mount Rushmore Of Wrestling?
Michael has an intriguing (and very difficult) question, concerning who I think would be on the female Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling.
I think there are two approaches to this one, so I'm going to craft two Mount Rushmores. Don't worry; I have a lot of carving equipment on my hands.
The first would be Moolah, Elizabeth, Chyna and Stephanie; quite simply, I think they are the four most notable, influential women in WWE history.
However, that collective makes me quite uncomfortable (not least because of the terrible things Moolah has been accused). Although it tells the story of women in wrestling, it doesn't quite sum up the idea of women's wrestling - if that makes any sense at all.
My alternative Rushmore would consist firstly of Chyna - the first female wrestler to really mix with the men and demonstrate that she could be regarded as equally as valid a competitor. Secondly I'd have Lita, who further built upon Chyna's groundwork with her breathtaking style.
Trish Stratus has to be third; she was hired primarily for her looks, with pretty much zero wrestling ability, but through dedication and hard work, became one of the best female workers in WWE history.
This might sound strange, but my fourth spot is still blank. The story of women's wrestling is still massively incomplete, but in years to come, I'd like to think one of the current crop would take that final place - probably Sasha Banks or Bayley.
