5. Wrestlers That Have Surprised Us In Terms Of Popularity?
From @DizTrain: Over the years, which wrestlers have surprised you with how much they've gotten over with fans?
The name Zack Ryder immediately came to mind. Give him a lot of credit because in 2010-11 when WWE wasn't doing much of anything with him he took to social media to get fan support. His "Z True Long Island Story" video series on youtube was a lot of fun. He's also been very active on Twitter. That eventually translated to television when WWE gave him a shot and he really got over, even winning the US Title at one point. It's a shame that things derailed for him with WWE booking him like such a loser in the Kane feud and he should have got a win over him, but that didn't happen. He's been stuck in midcard hell ever since. Rob Van Dam in WWE in 2001 was ridiculously over too. Obviously a lot of people knew him from his ECW work, but to hear him get such massive ovations in WWE on a regular basis was amazing. It didn't surprise me that he was popular. It was just a shock that he was getting the loudest ovations on the entire show. There are probably others if we sat here thinking about it some more, but those are the ones that came to mind for me.
