From @JR_O6: Did Triple H hogging the World Heavyweight Championship help or hurt it in the beginning?
This is in reference to Hunter's reign as World Heavyweight Champion on the Raw brand for much of 2002-2005. It's one of those things that had pros and cons. The reason they did it is because they wanted to establish a new title and in doing so needed a strong champion that was a heel. Hunter was a good choice in that respect. When he lost the title to guys like Chris Benoit and Batista at WrestleManias they were great feuds capped off in a big way. Then there's the bad aspect of it, which is the fact that Hunter had some awful feuds with the likes of Kane (Katie Vick ring a bell?), Scott Steiner, Goldberg and he didn't put over Booker T for the title like he should have. It's these kinds of things that made people not like Hunter. People thought that Vince McMahon was favoring him since he became his son in law in 2003. Maybe he was. Like with most wrestlers, there were definitely some highs and lows for his title run.
