4. Lack Of Title Reigns For Shawn Michaels Post 2002?

From @Freaksteil: Why did Shawn Michaels never really have any notable title runs when he came back from his back injury?

When Shawn Michaels came back from the back injury in 2002 it was awesome. They really only planned the SummerSlam win over Triple H and then nothing else. When they put the World Title on him at Survivor Series 2002 in the first Elimination Chamber match it was only a short term plan to screw over Triple H and then Hunter got it back a month later. Michaels never won the WWE or World Title again despite wrestling for another eight years and getting numerous title shots.

The reason why he didn't get another title reign is because he refused it. Michaels felt like since he really only worked Raw as well as PPVs that he shouldn't have a title reign when there were guys that working a full time schedule.

Michaels was tremendous post 2002 and was arguably the best performer in the company (along with Kurt Angle) from around 2003-2006 or so. Based on how popular he was as well as his talent, he deserved another title reign. However, he deserves respect for turning it down too because it allowed for others to benefit.
