10 WWE Records That Fans Absolutely Hate
9. Chris Jericho Only Spent 311 Days As Intercontinental Champion
Chris Jericho and the Intercontinental Championship—a love story for the ages.
Despite holding the title a record nine times, Jericho's combined reigns only add up to a mere 311 days. That's right: the self-proclaimed Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla spent less than a year as champion across all his reigns.
For someone who loves to brag about his accolades, you'd think he'd have held onto the belt a bit longer. But Jericho's reigns were often short-lived, like a flash in the pan. Remember his first win in December 1999, when he beat Chyna for the gold? That reign lasted just 22 days. How about his sixth reign in October 2003, which started and ended on the same episode of Raw?
For someone who claims to be the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time, he's never been trusted to hold the strap for a long time. 17 men have been IC Champ for longer than Y2J, with three of them having old held the strap once.
You can't take away the number of reigns - but you can reconsider how impressive this record is.
