10 WWE Returns Everyone Asked For (Which Ended Up Sucking)

2. Scott Steiner

There's nothing quite like the sound of some ear-piercing sirens reducing an arena full of wrasslin' fans into a swell of deafening emotion. And judging from that aforementioned reaction to a returning Scott Steiner within Madison Square Garden back in 2002, it was safe to assume that WWE had once again captured lightning in a bottle.

They just couldn't hold onto it for very long, unfortunately.

The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion was promptly thrown into a feud with WWE golden boy Triple H over the world title, only to come up short on both occasions and for their Royal Rumble match to be considered the "Worst Worked Match of the Year" by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Things didn't get much better from there, either, as a star who was once frothed over as being one of the most dominant and awe-inspiring stars available to WWE's one-time rivals was soon lumped into a tag team with Test before the two came to blows over Stacey Keibler; because wrestling over the services of a woman was never going to age badly, right?

An injury in 2004 would ultimately be the final nail in the coffin as he was released in August.
