10 WWE Royal Rumble Eliminations That Infuriated Fans
7. Owen Hart (Triple H - 1998)
The 1998 Royal Rumble took place just months after the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob'. His brother Bret having departed to WCW, Owen Hart continued to work in the then-WWF. Before the Rumble, he had on-screen issues with D-Generation X, which would play into his Rumble elimination and set up a match for WrestleMania XIV. Unable to work the bout due to a legitimate injury, Triple H still had a role to play in the Rumble. Earlier, Owen had been attacked during his entrance by Jeff Jarrett, who would enter himself a little later on. Returning, Hart battered Jarrett and sent him over the top rope and out of the match. Whilst brawling with Goldust, he himself would suffer elimination, and it felt like a letdown. Playing tug-of-war with Chyna over a crutch, Owen was nailed by Triple H (who was standing on the ring apron with another one in hand). The item broke over Hart's back, and he neatly sailed over the ropes and out of the Rumble. In total, the Canadian had been in the ring for barely a few minutes. Fans were livid with Triple H, making it an effective elimination. Still, it was disappointing not to see the talented Owen feature more than he did.
