10 WWE Royal Rumble Eliminations That Infuriated Fans

6. Shawn Michaels (Chris Jericho - 2003)

Speaking of featuring less than he should have, Shawn Michaels barely had time to break a sweat during the 2003 Royal Rumble. Thankfully, the angle which played out to start the bout off came across masterfully and only made Chris Jericho look like a nefarious heel. Audible disappointment could be heard when Michaels was eliminated, and fans were clearly upset over what transpired. Entering the match first, Shawn was quickly joined by Jericho. When the lights went on during his entrance, however, it was Christian (wearing one of Jericho's entrance jackets) who appeared standing in the aisle way. This cleared the way for Y2J to attack Michaels from behind, something which prevented the Showstopper from mounting any offensive during his brief appearance. Bashing his rival with a steel chair and busting him wide open, Jericho then eliminated Shawn Michaels. This entry acts as a rarity on this list, because it worked a charm. People were grossly frustrated by what happened, but that was the entire point of the Rumble's opening. Michaels would return the favour later on, coming back to the ring and getting rid of the man who had wronged him earlier in the evening.
