10 WWE Signings That Didn't Live Up To The Hype

10. Apollo Crews

Poor old Apollo Crews. The former Uhaa Nation looks like Vince McMahon's pro wrestling wet dream, a handsome pro wrestler built out of marble with a winning smile, and athleticism that seemingly knows no bounds. Apollo looks like a bodybuilder, moves like a cruiserweight, and smiles like a pop star. On paper, he is the perfect mix.

When WWE signed Uhaa Nation back in late 2014/early 2015, many critics were quick to point him out as a can't-miss prospect. Uhaa's named changed to Apollo Crews, and whilst this initially brought groans the critics swiftly realised that it was a stronger name than Uhaa Nation. Crews headed to NXT, and many were predicting championships and WrestleMania main events in the big man's future.

Those championships and main events may yet come to pass, but as of right now Crews' time in WWE has been disappointing. His NXT run was cut short, and his time on the main roster has seen stops, starts, and botched kip-ups. Time is on his side, but it is going to take a lot of work for this signing to live up to the hype.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
