He was 'here to show the world' and he definitely did... for a few months.

Dolph Ziggler had the potential to be the kind of athletically gifted babyface that the company had struggled to replicate since the days of a young Shawn Michaels super-kicking his way to the main event of WrestleMania XII.

That's not to say that Ziggler was a carbon-copy of Michaels, it's just that his similar characteristics excited fans into thinking that a successful run at the top of the card was inevitable and it did eventually happen - albeit not for long.

Ziggler's crowning cash-in moment on Alberto Del Rio went down in history, producing one of the loudest crowd reactions ever heard in a WWE arena. The second that the official brought his hand down for the three count still sends shivers up your spine today.

That's why it was such a let-down when Ziggler's reign was derailed by an ill-timed concussion and the foolish decision for him to drop the World Heavyweight Championship back to Del Rio at Payback, just two months on from his stirring victory on the Raw after WrestleMania 29.

Ziggler never recovered and his brief spell with the gold wasn't revisited, leading many current fans to even forget that he was once a credible world title challenger at all.
