When getting into the pro wrestling industry, Alexis 'Alexa Bliss' Kaufman knew she'd have an uphill struggle to be taken seriously. She was a competitive bodybuilder and gymnast, pursuits which gave her a useful grounding in many of the areas she'd need to work on. Standing a shade over five foot tall and with a face like a cheerful pixie, she recognised that she'd need to recoup credibility with the audience every time she set foot in the ring. That's why, instead of just relentlessly studying joshi tapes and the WWE holy trinity of Lita, Trish Stratus and AJ, Kaufman sat herself down in front of the wrestling output of one Rey Mysterio. While Mysterio's high-flying moveset might be a little beyond her, Alexa Bliss has a moveset based around flips and high-risk aerial manoeuvers. The veteran luchador was nicknamed the 'biggest little man in WWE', and for good reason: at around five foot two or so, unless he's in a match against minis, he's always going to be the smallest guy in the ring. Kaufman knows exactly how that feels - so she studied how he moved, how he sold, the little things he did that got him over in the land of the giants. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-QWbB8tC-I In her first televised match, she defeated former Diva's Champion Alicia Fox in the first round of a tournament... but, since it's a work, the important thing is that (despite giving up close to nine inches in height) she looked credible doing it, bloodied though she was.
