10 WWE Stars Who Failed As The Number One Guy

4. Booker T

Despite being a five time (five time, five time, five time, five time) WCW Champion, he was never really the main attraction during his time there. A mixture of WCW's intent on keeping the nWo strong and Booker having to compete with the likes of Sting and Goldberg meant that he was never really the true focus of WCW. In fact, he only won his fifth WCW title from Scott Steiner on the last episode of Nitro because WWF wanted the title on someone they had under contract during the Invasion angle. As far as his WWE career goes, Booker T had the opportunity to take his career to the next level at Wrestlemania 19. Booked in a World Heavyweight Championship feud against Triple H, all of the build-up seemed to point to the fact that Booker would beat Triple H at only his second Wrestlemania. Triple H made a few comments in the run-up to the match that seemed to refer to Booker's race, something that would never had happened if the original plan was for Triple H to win. Unfortunately for Booker, the plans were changed and Triple H did win the match. Booker never quite recovered momentum. Either in WCW or WWE, Booker T was never quite placed in the position to lead the company, despite seemingly having all of the abilities required to do so. At both companies, perhaps it was just the wrong place at the wrong time for Booker T.
