10 WWE Stars That The Internet Is Wrong To Hate

1. Hardcore Holly

Why The Internet Hates Him: Similar to JBL, Bob 'Hardcore' Holly developed a reputation as being a bully. The reputation mainly stems from an incident on the second season of MTV's Tough Enough which aired in early 2003. Holly appeared to beat up eventual winner Matt Cappotelli during an impromptu six man tag match. Cornering the rookie, Holly unloaded with a series of full-on kicks and punches to his face. At the end of the match Cappotelli has a black eye and a bloody lip. Holly also incurred the IWC's wrath in late 2004 when he decided to shoot on Rene Rupree during a tag team match, potatoing him with several legit punches and smashing him in the back of the head with a chair. The incident stemmed from an unpaid parking ticket that Dupree had gotten in a rental car registered in Bob's name. Holly had anger issues, people said. He was a jerk, someone who took liberties in the ring. He was excessively stiff with new guys like Randy Orton in 2002. The Holly hate was so bad that, when Brock Lesnar accidentally dropped him on his head and broke his neck in 2002, people blamed Holly for sandbagging The Next Big Thing. Why They're Wrong: Did Holly work stiff? Absolutely. Did he worked excessively stiff on occasion? More than likely. Was the only person to work that stiff at that time? Absolutely not. Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, JBL and others worked as stiff, if not more stiff than Holly. Ditto Rob Van Dam. As for the Capotelli and Dupree incidences? Holly maintains that he was in the right during both. Apparently the cameras didn't show Capotelli and his fellow trainees goofing around and not paying Holly requisite respect. Holly was as rough with him as he was with anyone else, not more so. With Dupree, Holly could have lost his license and been put in jail over it, since there was a warrant out for his arrest. It cost Holly a lot of money and, according to him, Dupree refused to apologise. Holly gave him fair warning that they were going to have a fight. Was it right? Debatable, but it's not as cut-and-dry as the IWC seems to believe.
