6. Kane
Kane was initially supposed to be just another big man for WWE to feed to the Undertaker. After all, WWEs power brokers were more interested in having the Undertaker conquer one giant threat after another; even if it meant that those victims wouldnt have much to do after losing to the Deadman. However, things were different with Kane. Jim Cornette loved Glenn Jacobs when he was working in Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and worked hard to convince WWE that he was more than just a short feud for Taker. After Undertaker worked with the character then known as Unabomb in SMW, he was likewise convinced that Kane could become something bigger. So, the Kane character was given a considerable degree of depth and storyline background, and he and the Undertaker proceeded to put together one of the greatest feuds in WWE history. Although their matches werent technical masterpieces, the storyline and character development between them was nigh unmatched. Kanes rivalry with the Undertaker led to his credibility shooting through the roof, and within a year or so of his famous WWE debut, he was a World-Championship-caliber athlete that was feared by absolutely everyone on the roster. Although the Kane-Undertaker feud would have some low points in later years, by feuding with him during the Attitude Era, Undertaker elevated Kane to a nearly-legendary level.
