10 WWE Stars Who Defeated Brock Lesnar

3. John Cena (Extreme Rules; April 29, 2012)

Reports ran rampant over WrestleMania 28 weekend that Brock Lesnar had re-signed with WWE and was due back at any time. He wasted no time in reintroducing himself to the WWE Universe when he arrived on Raw the night after WrestleMania 28, laying out John Cena to a massive reaction from the Miami crowd. Nine years removed from their bout at Backlash 2003, Cena and Lesnar reignited their rivalry going into Extreme Rules. Cena was coming off the biggest loss of his career to The Rock at 'Mania and Lesnar was looking to establish himself as "the new face of WWE". Needless to say, anticipation was high going into the event. With it being Lesnar's first match in WWE ring in over eight years, fans were skeptical as to whether he still had any ring rust on him. The Beast Incarnate put the rumors to rest that night in Chicago when he and Cena went to war with each other. Lesnar brutalized Cena for almost the entire contest, busting him open moments into the matchup. Despite that, Cena still found a way to persevere and come out on top with an Attitude Adjustment on the steel steps. It was a booking decision that remains a mystery to this very day, but at least WWE righted their wrong when they had Lesnar beat Cena in their rematch at this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view.
