10 WWE Stars Who Had Their Best Match EVER This Year

9. Ricochet

Drew McIntyre WWE Best Ever
WWE

When: Raw (6 May)

Opponent: Ilja Dragunov

Bet you didn't expect to see AEW's Ricochet here!

He belongs though, 'cause Rico had one hell of a tasty King Of The Ring qualifier vs. Ilja Dragunov in May. It's debatable whether or not this was Ilja's best WWE clash (GUNTHER would like a word on that), but it was certainly Ricochet's finest hour as a singles on the main roster.

Yes, we're including some of the stunning work high flyer Rico produced in NXT too. He and Dragunov didn't waste even one second during their near 15 minute scorcher. Everything had meaning, and Ilja's sell-heavy approach complemented his peer's dazzling aerials nicely.

Admittedly, some out there may point to Ricochet vs. Ilja on the 27 May episode as a better overall match, but nah - the King Of The Ring first-rounder carried weight. There was a kickass traditional tournament atmosphere hanging over it, and that rocked too.

Really, really good work.
