It isn't going to be a popular choice, but I think it is fair to say that Christian would never have received a World Heavyweight Championship reign, let alone two, if RAW and SmackDown were combined to make one roster in 2011. Heck, the extremely cynical would go one further and state that Captain Charisma wouldn't have been World Champion at all if Edge hadn't had to retire young due to injury.

Did Christian deserve a World Championship run? Absolutely. Did it seem as though he was ever going to get one in World Wrestling Entertainment? Absolutely not. I don't think the 'WWECW' Championship counts either, by the way. Despite his obvious talent and popularity, Christian was always going to be a solid entertaining hand in the upper-middle of the card, challenging for titles now and then and winning the IC and US straps from time to time.

Christian and Randy Orton had a great feud over the title in the summer in 2011, but my guess is that Christian won the strap following Edge's injury due to a combination of the latter's retirement and a reluctance to have Orton pick the strap off Alberto Del Rio.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
