10 WWE Stars Who Wanted To Be Roddy Piper

2. Dean Ambrose

There's a promo from 1982 involving Roddy Piper preparing to fight The Sheepherders in which Piper busts open a beer bottle on his head to prove that he doesn't care about how much blood he'll have to lose in order to defeat the evil New Zealand tandem. Now imagine that Dean Ambrose is kicking himself as he can't cut a similar promo because WWE won't allow blood in his and Roman Reigns' feud with the Wyatt Family. There was an era between 1980-1984 where there wasn't a stranger heel in pro wrestling than Roddy Piper. He dressed strangely, cut off the wall promos, didn't exactly have matches that looked like any other match you'd ever seen in the industry, but because you got the sense he was truly being himself, he got over. Consider as well that Dean Ambrose may be gearing up to be on a streak similar to Piper in his pre-WWF heyday, and you'll blatantly see the comparison.
