10 WWE Stars Who Would Be Nothing Without Their Props

A good workman never blames his tools...

When building a wrestler from the ground up, you'd usually look to start from a foundation of incredible in-ring ability. Then, follow that up with untouchable mic skills and season it all with a compelling character, bolstered by both comedic and dramatic chops in order to fit into whatever programme they are placed in at the time.

Even with all this, sometimes a star can struggle to get noticed in the sea of talent that the WWE has housed over the years.

The likes of Finn Bálor, currently possessing a unique character that allows him to be both underdog and fierce demon, still gets lost in the shuffle. Perhaps he would benefit from a final touch that many before him have employed.

The use of a prop.

By using an object, many performers managed to find a way to imprint themselves into the minds of the paying WWE Universe and thus create a buzz whenever they were seen with the item in question.

Either way, a good prop can be the missing piece to solving the puzzle of getting over with the fans, indefinitely.

10. Carlito's Apple

To 'spit in the face of people who don't want to be cool' is a pretty ballsy move. When you decide that you're going to do this after chewing down on a handheld piece of fruit, one of two things are going to happen. You're getting over or you're getting booed and that's a pro-wrestling win-win if ever there was one.

Vignettes started to air in late 2004, depicting Carlito Caribbean Cool as a cocky, laid back guy who made it his duty to point out what was 'cool' and what was not. What tipped him into heel-dom was the audacity of the mighty apple hawking. It first appeared to be a random act of arrogance but later proved to be a calling card for the Puerto Rican.

Entering the SmackDown roster surrounded by fanfare, he was thrown straight into a U.S. Championship programme (winning the title on his debut) before eventually going on to have his own talk show (Carlito's Cabana) and multiple World Championship opportunities.

Did Carlito fulfil his main event promise? No. However you knew you were about to witness unfiltered entertainment as soon as he drew his legendary snack.
