10 WWE Storylines We'd Like To See In 2019

Braun Strowman got over by simply being a massive bastard capable of jaw-dropping feats.

An entertaining monster who reduced us to ghoulish, slack-jawed children, his aura diminished throughout 2018 when WWE leaned too heavily into his considerable comedic chops, and then kept him on a leash to allow the real Big Dog to prowl the yard. The debuting Lars Sullivan, after squashing the Big Show in an eye-opening open challenge debut on SmackDown, announces himself in this timeline as WWE's new resident monster. The following week, Strowman emerges from the back to reclaim his title...on RAW.

Sullivan shrugs off the challenge. Strowman, to him, is a novelty act.

The McMahons, wary of the destruction both monsters are capable of on their respective brands, much less on the same stage, refuse to sanction a match between them for fear of the Universe exploding. It is a deeply silly premise, but one that builds anticipation and harkens back to the days in which big matches mattered and larger than life characters were larger than life. The storyline occurs in 2019, but the blowoff follows a year later at WrestleMania 36 - after a no-sell showdown of massive bombs at Survivor Series.

It's all a bit 2017 Kane, this sort of challenge, but since 2017 Kane won't actually be involved, it might be a proper, primal freak show programme.
