Nothing hurts like the cold, old hand of truth gripping you by the throat, but Vince McMahon did just that with his glorious vision of big lads having a big fight in SummerSlam's show-saving main event.

As evidenced by the atrocious Undertaker/Roman Reigns main event at this year's WrestleMania, two giants lumbering through the gears won't revive a crowd over five hours deep into the broadcast, but four of them knocking seven shades out of one another absolutely will.

The match of the night and one of the best of the year, the explosive brawl over Brock Lesnar's Universal Title featuring 'The Big Dog', Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman was everything it needed to be and then some.

Ensuring the action never stopped (as it never needs to in such a match), the four looked intent on killing each other if it meant taking home the top title, mainly instigated by a fabulous path of destruction crafted by Braun Strowman early in the bout. Throwing Brock through two tables and throwing an announcer's chair at Joe and Roman, Braun was unrepentant in his abuse of the champion, briefly resulting in 'The Beast' requiring a stretcher to cart him off to the backstage medics.

He then took his own lumps, tasting blood thanks to Reigns' wicked steel stair shots, before Joe leapt back into the fray with a coquina clutch that nearly downed his bigger foe.

The must-see clash ended when Lesnar returned like Godzilla trampling buildings around him, dropping chumps with F5s and eventually hitting a match-winning one on Reigns. 'Fight Forever' would have actually been appropriate here, so absorbing was the drama. Vince would have hated that.
