WWE have often had to deal with arenas announcing matches for shows long before television has remotely pointed the audience in that particular creative direction, but the local advertisements for Hell in a Cell 2018 hitting the San Antonio area the weekend of SummerSlam 2018 played hell with trying to keep the 'Biggest Party of the Summer' from kicking off early.

Virtually an entire card (that was, admittedly, subject to change) appeared in ticket-teasing promotions, including a main event of Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens, Jeff Hardy taking on Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose reuniting to take on Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler, and AJ Styles defending his WWE Title against Samoa Joe.

Brock Lesnar's absence was hardly surprising, but the notes of Roman, AJ and Joe all retaining top spots (particularly with the notable absence of then-Money in the Bank contract holder Braun Strowman not in the mix) strongly implied the results that ultimately occurred. A seemingly foreshadowed Dean Ambrose turn was also stubbed to allow for the tag match follow up between The Shield pairing and the Drew/Dolph duo.
