It's fair to say the police department in Linn County, Iowa did well to apprehend this particular suspect. Andre was arrested in 1989 for allegedly 'roughing up' a television camera man. The seven foot four inch, 560 pound giant was charged with assault by the authorities but what he actually did on that day has is not well-known. This arrest was during the period of time Andre was winding down his active in-ring wrestling career. He died while sleeping due to congestive heart failure on January 27, 1993 in a Paris hotel room.
