10 WWE Superstars Badly In Need Of A Character Reboot

3. The Ascension

The Ascension was among the first teams to transition from NXT (not FCW) to WWE and their lack of success surprised many people, both inside WWE and outside the company. Like many talents that came through the Performance Center and work in front of the Full Sail University crowd, they were over and had a sustained run down in NXT. With painted faces in addition to the red and black ring gear, The Ascension were immediately viewed as Road Warrior rip-offs when they debuted on RAW in late 2014. Regardless of who's to blame, Konnor and Viktor are not over and a recent return to Full Sail University to face American Alpha really illustrated just how far the team has fallen in such a short time. A back-to-basics reboot of the team that dominated the NXT tag division as champions for a full year would be a good starting point to resurrect Konnor and Viktor's careers. Returning to their full names of Connor O'Brian and Rick Viktor, which were dropped in NXT ironically enough, would give the duo less of a cartoonish feel to them. They need to lose the face paint, change the gear up, and return to the dominant, physical team that squashed opponents within seconds. Between their gimmick, their look, their behaviour, the RAW commentators (especially JBL), and their creative, The Ascension have been presented as a bunch of phoney wannabes that it's no wonder they didn't get over on RAW. If these guys were presented as the serious threats they were when down in Orlando, the WWE audience would be forced to take them more seriously and the company might have another top tag team on their hands.
