10 WWE Superstars Fired In The Shortest Time
4. Public Enemy (2 Months)
The Public Enemy very quickly became office ones when they made the migration from their natural habitat of ECW to a distrusting and disrespecting WWE locker room in 1999. The air of animosity didn't stem so much from Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock's particular brand of garbage, but the fact that, at the onset of the Monday Night Wars, the pair had rejected the company's advances for a more lucrative stint in Atlanta.
The two were never wanted from the start, then, and WWE's resident bullies promptly made it their mission to run them out of the territory. Which they did. John Layfield, the company's primo oppressor, took it upon himself personally to end Public Enemy's employment, subjecting the team to what he and Ron Simmons arrogantly called 'the APA Test'. To pass, Grunge and Rock had to 'get over' with the crowd - despite the contest mutating into a legitimate beatdown. Obviously, they failed, and one match later, were sent packing.
