Jack Swagger won the World title in 2010 after successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Chris Jericho. Since then, he has struggled to find a way back to the top. Swagger was being booked as the next Kurt Angle, and that is where the problems started for the former collegiate Superstar. Being compared to Angle was understandable because both of them had successful amateur careers and patriotic gimmicks, but it takes more than a red, white and blue singlet and some technical ability to match up with one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He lacked the charisma and marketability to be one of the top champions in the company, but somehow he was pushed to the World title anyway. Those in charge obviously noticed how big of a mistake this was since he has never been booked close to where he was four years ago. Swagger should have been given more time to mature as a performer and find his groove as a character before putting him in that position. He spent a few years in mid-card hell before being paired up with Zeb Colter. The gimmick gave hope that there was still some untapped potential in him, but he has been on the losing end of almost every feud, even with a legend in his corner.
