10 WWE Superstars That Would've Thrived In The Hulkamania Era

5. Aiden English

The Vaudevillains were a tag team that struggled in their transition from NXT to the main roster, and probably would've fared better three decades ago.

Simon Gotch was recently released, but there's still hope for Aiden English, who has since adopted a character he calls "The Drama King". The gimmick is reminiscent of a bygone time period, like the golden era of the World Wrestling Federation.

English's skills as a former stage actor, including the dulcet tones he uses to make his entrance, are designed to generate heat, regardless of how multi-dimensional it makes him appear. Especially in the 80s, superstars that were "different" and perceived as quirky or odd, like Aiden, were immediately cast as villains. With his singing, mannerisms, and fantastic "Starry Night" inspired tights, English has done a magnificent job thus far with his new singles gimmick, but sometimes he's too '80s. The crying and facial expressions are way too hokey for 2017, but this is the direction English is receiving from WWE creative.

Time will tell how English fares on the big stage, but in 1987, this character would've at least been a regular mid-carder (vs. the undercard role he's currently in), with a great chance of pushing it higher.
