10 WWE Superstars Who Had Shockingly Long Tenures
5. Mark Henry
Mark Henry has been wrestling in the WWE (and its developmental system) since 1996. For those scoring at home that is 20 years. The former powerlifting champion and Olympian has been a staple on WWE television with a career that has seen its ups and downs.
Henry started his career debuting against Lawler on pay per view at In Your House 2. Following this basic, pretty terrible match, Henry was taken off TV and given time to train. He returned with the entertaining Sexual Chocolate gimmick, where he hit on ladies on the roster like Chyna and Mae Young, resulting in the latter giving birth to a hand. As entertaining as all that was, Henry's in ring work was still sub par so he was sent back to developmental in 2000. It took him a few years but by the time 2005 rolled around Henry was ready to begin his ascent to the main event. Feuding with the likes of The Undertaker he would go on to win the ECW Heavyweight Championship and finally, the World Heavyweight Championship from Randy Orton during his fantastic Hall of Pain run.
Unlike a lot of modern stars Mark Henry was given the opportunity to fail in the WWE a few times before he succeeded. This has afforded him a 20 year career in the WWE including a lot of memorable moments, for better or worse. This also distinguishes him from the rest of this list as he was the only person on it who rose to main event status while maintaining his utility player status with the WWE. He's still kicking around today, providing us with another amazing moment recently by faking his retirement in order to turn on John Cena.
