We all know the WrestleMania 2000 main event to be the renowned ‘A McMahon in Every Corner’ Fatal 4-Way elimination match for the WWF Championship, with Triple H with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley defeating The Rock with Mr. McMahon, Mick Foley with Linda McMahon and Big Show with Shane McMahon. But what rarely gets spoken of is the original PPV posters released for the event had Foley nowhere on them. ‘Y2J’ Chris Jericho though was, right next to HHH, Rock and Show. The original Fatal-4 Way was booked to have Jericho as one of the headliners.

Why it didn’t go ahead was the WWF were able to secure Mick Foley for the spot instead, even though he retired at the PPV before ‘Mania No Way Out in a brutal Hell in a Cell. Foley, desperately not wanting to pass up the opportunity to headline ‘The Granddaddy of Them All’ after being screwed out of it the previous year, reneged on his retirement and came back for one more match at WrestleMania 2000 in the Fatal 4-Way.

The WWF were hesitant to stick with Jericho in the main event too because they thought his size would have been heavily overshadowed by the other three wrestlers in the match. Jericho had to settle for a Triple Threat match for the WWF Intercontinental and WWF European Championships against Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle that night.
