2. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin faced Owen Hart for Hart's Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 1997. During the match, Hart's blown piledriver ended up with Austin being dropped on his head, resulting in Austin suffering a broken neck and temporary paralysis. Amazingly, Austin crawled over and pinned Hart to win the Intercontinental Championship. Sidelined until Survivor Series, Austin's neck condition was not operated on until 1999, Austin returning to television by April 2000.
