One of the sharpest pro wrestling minds alive today, Scott Hall had the look, the talent and the size to be a household name. He’s certainly well known enough in the clannish world of pro wrestling fandom - but he’s never reached the dizzy heights of true stardom.

Hall’s story isn’t a unique one, but - a little like the tale of Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts - it’s rendered all the sadder by the overwhelming sense of squandered potential. In Hall’s case, his upside was even more undeniable than Roberts’: one of the most prominent wrestlers of the Monday Night Wars, his defection to WCW with Kevin Nash spurred the creation of the NWO.

Despite this, Hall has never won a world title or been in serious contention for one, due to his reputation at the time for diabolical behaviour when wasted, and habit of no-showing bookings. In WCW, his addiction issues were even written into the storyline.

Hall was eventually released by WCW due to his chronic, longstanding issues, and had it not been for his friends in the industry and his undeniable value as a talent when sober, he would have been released a lot sooner.

Thankfully, Scott Hall has recently managed to clean up his act, in no small part thanks to Diamond Dallas Page and his Accountability Crib and a little crowdfunding to pay for a new hip - and when WWE inducted Razor Ramon into the Hall Of Fame in 2014, it felt like a real celebration.
