The ever-popular leader of the YES! movement faced a long and challenging road as he attempted to fight his way into a slot for Money in the Bank. Unlike most of the other competitors that earned their spot, Bryan was forced to compete in not just a single qualifying match, but instead in multiple contests. Unfortunately for Daniel Bryan and his rabid fans, he was eventually bested in his final chance by the Samoan Submission Machine on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, Samoa Joe wasn’t the deciding factor in Bryan’s inability to secure his place in Money in the Bank. Instead a large distraction from his goal plagued him throughout his tribulations. The unbridled rage of Big Cass -- a seemingly constant threat to Bryan since his return from injury -- kept the popular superstar from his rightful place at the pay-per-view. And while another recent 'injury scare' temporarily put a halt to Cass’ advances, the fire between these stars was quickly rekindled when Cass was added to Bryan and Joe’s qualifying match on SmackDown.

At this time, another championship opportunity via Money in the Bank is not in the cards for Daniel Bryan, but rather he seems destined for a continued feud with the seven foot tall behemoth from New York. Big Cass is unlikely to relent on his persistent run at Bryan, and for the time being, this David vs. Goliath feud will occupy Daniel Bryan’s focus.
