Returning to theme of obsolete characters, the tag team of Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake in NXT are another example of something that worked but has essentially run its course. Aligned with Alexa Bliss, their femme valet is on an upward swing with her career whilst her tag team are, for want of a better phrase, simply there. They served a purpose as transitional NXT tag team champions, but now what? Only the most ardent BAM fans can see them making it up to the main roster, and whilst they will surely serve a purpose as NXT tag team jobbers for a while they have shown little in the way of personality to convince anyone that there is more in their future. NXT's forthcoming status as a touring brand will give them a stay of execution, but as the big name signings continue to come in it is more likely that their status in tag team limbo will see them gone by Christmas 2016.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
