By 2002 Tazz was already done as a headline prospect (in truth, he had been since his debut). Connecting with fellow ECW alumni, Spike seemed like a fittingly perfect underdog team; after all, Tazz had trained the 'Runt of the Litter' years before.

In truth, Spike had a nice little angle in the months leading up to the big win, trying and failing to defeat his big 'brothers' for months with a variety of partners. He found the right guy in 'The Human Suplex Machine'. Alas, the story concluded there. Interest from the office waned in the duo. Tazz had already been in the commentary booth for a while. A month-long run ended to Billy & Chuck before a chance to defend at WrestleMania.

The broken-down Tazz would go full-time as a commentator soon while Spike plugged away in the hardcore division. A short run for a small team.
