10 WWE Tag Team Champions You Definitely Forgot About
2. Cody Rhodes And Drew McIntyre
They came, they attacked people, they briefly held tag team gold, and they dissolved — all within six weeks. Two hotly-tipped guys with nothing to do, this was never meant to last. It kept ’The Dashing Ones’ occupied until something meatier came up. Surely they were two potential world champs, after all.
In 2010 “Dashing” Cody Rhodes was still finding his WWE niche (he never would), and McIntyre was cooling down a year removed from Vince McMahon’s chosen one. An instantly forgettable tag team turmoil win at Night of Champions (tell me the other four teams without Googling) was followed up a month later with defeat at Bragging Rights, but no one cared.
Worst of all? They lost the titles to David Otunga.
Fun fact, McIntyre’s final match on the indies before returning to WWE in 2017 was as Drew Galloway in the sorely missed WCPW. Against Cody (no Rhodes).
