10 WWE Title Reigns That P*ssed Off The Fans
6. Harvey Wippleman Makes Women's Championship 'History'
If you're a female wrestling fan who somehow survived the Attitude Era, bless you. WWE doesn't exactly have the greatest track record when it comes to female representation, but giving the Women's Championship to any man, let alone Harvey Wippleman, degraded the work of genuine female wrestlers in years gone by.
In what was meant to be a comedic segment, Wippleman won the WWF Women's Championship from The Kat - an insult to women's wrestling herself - in disguise as "Hervina" in a Lumberjill Snow Bunny match. The objective of the contest was to claim a pinfall in a pit of fake snow while other females pelted them with snowballs. Even now it's hard to fathom that this actually happened.
Wippleman, best known for his managerial duties in the 90s, is the only man to have held the title. Unlike when Chyna won the Intercontinental Championship - assumed to be a man's title until Chyna broke the mould and empowered women everywhere - there was no benefit from Wippleman winning a title already tarnished by years of half-naked gimmick matches.
Thankfully Wippleman lost the title to Jacqueline just two days later, but the damage was already done. In some respects, WWE is lucky it had already completely tarnished the women's division's representation beforehand or Wippleman's victory would have created a larger uproar.
