10 WWE TV Matches That Were Better Than They Had Any Right To Be

Following a fairly flaccid conclusion to an ultimately promising feud between Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, the best friends blew off their United States Championship programme in a singles match on SmackDown LIVE after Owens had lost the title back to Jericho at Payback. Owens took Jericho out, after reclaiming the title, leaving Y2J injured and out of action for the foreseeable future.

KO went on to feud with AJ Styles over the next few months and the ensuing matches didn't live up the billing that some had hoped for. That all changed on the July 25th version of SmackDown LIVE as a returning author of The List of Jericho demanded to be placed in a match with The Phenomenal one and a reluctant Prize-Fighter.

A Jericho lionsault onto Styles and Owens mid Calf-Crusher was certainly the highlight but for three guys that had under-delivered in the preceding months, this match delivered on a level that few could have predicted. Owens' selling of the loss of his title (via Styles' pin on Jericho) without being pinned, added the icing on top of this surprisingly generous cake.
