10 WWE vs NJPW Matches That Need To Happen

Fantasy booking the two best promotions on earth facing off against each other.

Yuji Nagata Chris Jericho As wrestling fans, we often like to look at particular matches that we aren't able to see, for one reason or another, and wonder what would happen if they actually had the chance to take place. Sometimes it's wrestlers from different eras that couldn't face off due to an injury or early retirement (John Cena VS Steve Austin, for example), and sometimes it's wrestlers who never got to cross paths due to death coming too soon (Daniel Bryan VS Eddie Guerrero, for another example). Other times, it's just fun to look at wrestlers that work for two different promotions and think about "dream cards" featuring both sides clashing for supremacy. It happened all the time during the Monday Night War, and it has certainly happened a lot since TNA was born, but here, we need to look beyond North America and expand globally. If you were to poll wrestling fans and ask them who puts on the best in-ring product of any major wrestling promotion on the planet, most of them would tell you WWE or New Japan Pro Wrestling wins. If that's the case, why not look at what a "dream card" of WWE VS New Japan would look like? That's exactly what this article will be... matches that actually could, and should, happen if we ever got to see those two promotions have a joint event. The best part about an article like this? With the sheer amount of talent that both rosters have, there's almost no such thing as a "wrong" entry. You could have 20 different matches, and some really good matches (and workers) will be left out. It's inevitable, but that just makes it more exciting.
