10 WWE WrestleMania 31 Matches Evaluated

1. Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns - WWE Title

The controversial main event for WrestleMania 31 is Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Title against Roman Reigns. At this point, there's a chance that it doesn't go on last. You get the feeling that a stubborn Vince McMahon may stick to closing the show with it, but right now, there really could be a major negative reaction if this closes. Fans despise the fact that Reigns is in the main event ahead of Daniel Bryan. There's a strong chance that the hardcore fans who attend Mania could walk out on this. With that in mind, WWE might consider putting this bout in one of the semi main events. They could then close with Cena, Taker or Sting. As an actual match, Lesnar vs Reigns could be just fine. The Big Dog is coming off a fantastic showing at Fastlane and Brock is coming off a superb match at Royal Rumble. Sure, they both had quality opponents in those matches, but Reigns and Lesnar really aren't that bad in the ring. They could easily have a very good match at Mania. All the controversy around it, has at least made people intrigued to see how it will go down. Even if you hate Reigns, you want to tune in and see him get booed out of the building. If you like him, you're definitely tuning in. Then there is the draw of Brock, who still appeals to a segment of the casual mainstream. As such, this match will create interest in WrestleMania 31. The sticking point for fans is that a Bryan vs Lesnar match would have felt more satisfying. The WWE didn't share that sentiment and stuck with their chosen man. It won't ruin Mania, but it will lead to many "what if" moments, particularly if the show ends up being a letdown. On the whole, there's enough on this card to make it feel special. The return of The Undertaker and the debut of Sting will ensure fans are watching. The ladder match, Cena match, Orton match and Lesnar match aren't quite as hot as they should be, but they're sufficiently great enough to make this an overall solid show. It doesn't look like a certified all time classic, but you never know, lowered expectations might just make Mania 31 that bit more impactful.
