10 WWE WrestleMania Myths EXPOSED

4. WrestleMania Is The 'Season Finale' Of WWE

The myth:

Because certain mainstream outlets enjoy unusual WWE-driven traffic around WrestleMania season, they will cover it, often with clichés smushed together: Stephanie McMahon Ready To Lay The Smack Down At WrestleMania!

And they'll frame it as if WrestleMania is WWE's "season finale" - that the events of the preceding 12 months all lead to this climactic moment.

The myth exposed:

Seasons of television produced by competent professionals tend to be mapped out well in advance. The WrestleMania 37 main event was only made in February, and Vince McMahon has already scrapped it: Roman Reigns Vs. Edge is now Roman Reigns Vs. Edge Vs. Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan in this ongoing season of television was defeated by Cesaro in four minutes, so this is less "the great convergence of several dovetailing story arcs" and more "Vince decides to do sh*t with zero continuity as and when he pleases".

Seasons of television also end. WWE never ends. There's an extra episode in this season, and it is called 'Backlash'. There are several additional episodes, in fact. Seasons of television usually do things called cliffhangers, which situate characters in peril from which there is seemingly no escape.

"Has that thick tw*t AJ Styles learned to wear a cup yet?" is hardly "Who shot JR?" is it.
