10 WWE Wrestlers Released In The Middle Of A Push

7. Marty Jannetty

Despite how many follow the lame "Wrestler A is the Marty of the team" rhetoric, there is absolutely no way to dispute that Marty Jannetty was a hell of a worker and a genuine wrestling revolutionary.

In addition to being a true trailblazer, though, Jannetty has sadly been fired by WWE more times than pretty much anyone else in company history.

For two of those firings in particular, this former Rocker was in the middle of major pushes that both times had him pitted against ex-partner Shawn Michaels.

The first of these two releases came in the aftermath of one of the most iconic heel turns in wrestling history. As Michaels turned on Jannetty during an episode of Brutus Beefcake's Barber Shop, the wheels were in motion for Rocker vs. Rocker in a guaranteed banger of a match at WrestleMania VIII.

Of course, that 'Mania match didn't happen due to Marty being fired for assaulting a police officer and being placed under house arrest for six months.

Rehired later that year, Jannetty was again inserted into a rivalry with the Heartbreak Kid, with Marty challenging for the Showstopper's Intercontinental Championship at the 1993 Royal Rumble as part of a feud that was due to run for several months. Instead, Jannetty was again let go shortly after the Rumble after it was claimed he was inebriated during that match.

In the years since then, Marty Jannetty has been released by WWE at least another five times.
