2. Ultimate Warrior

Given his position in the company through his various WWE tenures, it's fair to say that Ultimate Warrior was in the midst of a huge push any time he was under the employ of Vince McMahon.

The Parts Unknown native was famously hard to work with, and those issues 'ultimately' led to Warrior being fired two, possibly three times - each time while in the middle of some major storyline.

As to whether it was twice or thrice that the Ultimate One was fired, that depends on how you view his first departure. That absence came immediately after Warrior had teamed with Hulk Hogan to main event SummerSlam 1991.

Where there is uncertainty, is in how McMahon claims to have fired Warrior as soon as he got backstage, while other reports claim that McMahon handed out a suspension that led to the Ultimate One giving his notice, which Vince refused to accept due to the talent being contracted for another year.

Either way, Ultimate Warrior remained away from WWE before returning at WrestleMania VIII. Still, that return didn't last, and Warrior would be fired weeks before he was to main event Survivor Series '92.

1996 saw Warrior have another cup of coffee with the promotion, culminating in another firing, this time due to him missing several shows. During both the '92 and '96 returns, there were tentative plans for Ultimate D*ckhead to get another World Championship run - with neither reign obviously never coming to be.
