The Undertaker is a big match player. That might need to be reshaped into the past tense these days, but the career of The Phenom is closely linked to performances on the biggest of stages, of pay-per-view main events and headlining performances. The WrestleMania Streak and Survivor Series legacy are obviously the first things that spring to mind.

‘Taker is also 24 minutes away from creating a little bit of SummerSlam history. Undertaker doesn’t have a great record when it comes to SummerSlam, featuring in famous duds against Kamala, Giant Gonzalez and a fake version of himself, but his longevity means he has racked up masses of match time over the years. His current record stands at 237 minutes and 38 seconds, just 23 minutes and 32 seconds away from the highest total.

That total is held by John Cena, who also happens to be in the same retired-but-not-quite sort of spot as Undertaker. The thought of Undertaker wrestling an actual in-ring match that lasts 24 minutes isn’t exactly thrilling, but a cinematic experience not unlike his WrestleMania Boneyard match? Yes please, very much yes please.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
