10 WWE Wrestlers Who Could Break Records Before 2020 Ends

3. Adam Cole — Most NXT TakeOver Main Events

The future of NXT TakeOvers remains unclear. The WrestleMania weekend extravaganza (NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay, for the record) was cancelled, the card subsequently stretched out over a number of weeks, and nobody has any idea whether things will relax enough to allow events before the end of the year. NXT TakeOver: Portland may well end up being the only NXT special event of the year.

If that is the case, Johnny Gargano will remain alone on the list of most main events. The Rebel Heart (a quite atrocious nickname) has been in the main event of TakeOver more times than anyone else in NXT history, headlining on eight occasions. Gargano has been helped no end by the repetitive nature of these shows, headlining with Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole on three occasions each.

Cole’s record currently stands at seven, although this also comes with a caveat. Three of his main events have been WarGames matches alongside his Undisputed Era colleagues, while three of his other four headlining bouts have come against Gargano (the other one being the Portland main event against Ciampa). If Cole can headline two more TakeOvers before Gargano gets the opportunity, the record will be his.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
